1. The Decision Tree
2. Emergency / Immediate Danger
If you or someone else is in immediate physical danger, do not wait for an online report to be moderated.
- General Emergency: Dial 112 (National Emergency Number)
- Police: Dial 100
- Ambulance: Dial 108
Note: PTBI is not monitored 24/7 by emergency responders.
3. Bribery & Corruption
If a public servant is demanding a bribe, you can file a formal complaint with anti-corruption authorities.
- Central Government Employees: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) via cvc.gov.in
- State Government Employees: State Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) or State Vigilance Department.
- Evidence needed: Audio/video recordings, WhatsApp chats, exact dates, times, and names.
4. Consumer Disputes
For unfair trade practices, defective goods, or deficient services by private companies.
- National Consumer Helpline (NCH): Call 1915 or visit consumerhelpline.gov.in
- Consumer Courts: District, State, or National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions via E-Daakhil.
- Evidence needed: Receipts, invoices, warranty cards, email correspondence.
5. Information Access (RTI)
If a government department is refusing to provide transparency on funds, processes, or decisions.
- Right to Information (RTI) Act: File an online RTI request for central government departments at rtionline.gov.in
- Process: Submit your query with the ₹10 fee. If denied, file a First Appeal.
6. Cyber & Financial Fraud
If you have been scammed via UPI, OTP, phishing, or social media fraud.
- Cyber Crime Helpline: Call 1930 immediately.
- National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal: Register a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in
- Speed is critical: The faster you call 1930, the higher the chance your funds can be frozen before the scammer withdraws them.
